We wish to make members aware that following on from the 2019 consultation, Defra are now consulting on specific policy proposals for increasing consistency in recycling collected from households, businesses and other organisations in England.

Defra are asking for your thoughts about the materials included in each recyclable waste stream, exemptions, statutory guidance and transition timelines for local authorities and businesses. They are also seeking views on other areas of the policy to enable recycling consistency to be implemented successfully.

This latest consultation offers the best chance producers have had in many years to influence how recycling collections are configured. Therefore, we would encourage members to respond.

The consultation can be accessed here  and closes at 23:59 on 4th July 2021.

We would also be grateful if you could inform deniserion@bfff.co.uk of your intent to respond, along with a copy of your responses if possible. This will help us to assess member interest in this area.
