FROZEN CHAMPIONS – ONE WEEK TO GO
With only a week to go, excitement is mounting ahead of the BFFF 2016 Annual Awards, one of the UK’s most prestigious food industry award schemes.
Organised by British Frozen Food Federation, the awards recognise the best new frozen retail and foodservice products of the last 12 months.
The winners will be announced at a glittering awards dinner on the evening of 9 June at the London Hilton on Park Lane hotel.
Now in their 29th year, the awards are unique in that the retail winners are chosen by a panel of consumers and the catering awards are chosen by members of the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs. This year’s competition has received a record number of entries from across the industry.
Last year Retail Product of the Year for 2015 was awarded to Fullers Foods International for its ‘Tesco Finest’ British Parsnips glazed with Mexican Wildflower Honey. The Catering Product of the Year for 2015 was awarded to KK Fine Foods for its Korean Spicy Vegetable Curry.
Commenting on the awards, Brian Young, BFFF chief executive said: “Yet again this year the quality of the entries has been outstanding and underlines the on-going innovation and creativity of frozen food producers.
Mr Young added: “Consumers continue to see frozen as providing value for money, minimal waste as well as a convenient option, and with the outstanding products that we’ve seen submitted for this year’s awards I have no doubt that frozen will continue to enjoy growth in the market place.”
For the eighth year running the BFFF Retail Awards have been sponsored by the Yearsley Group, the UK’s largest supplier of frozen supply chain solutions.
This year, the BFFF Foodservice Awards are sponsored by NewCold, a specialist in frozen food supply chain solutions offering state of the art, large scale automated warehouse services.
