FROZEN SEAFOOD TAKES CENTRE STAGE THIS WORLD CUP

How Pacific West is Helping Operators Score with Seafood This World Cup

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to dominate screens across the UK this summer, pubs, bars and casual dining operators are already planning how to make the most of the tournament. For many, the challenge is the same every major sporting event: how do you deliver exciting, high-margin food at speed without putting the kitchen under pressure?

Pacific West believes the answer lies in smart menu planning built around versatile freezer-to-fryer products. The company has developed a collection of country-themed seafood dishes tied to competing nations, each one designed to showcase how a single frozen SKU can be transformed into a premium menu item with minimal kitchen prep.

The concept pairs hero products from the Pacific West range with flavour profiles inspired by the tournament’s competing nations. England’s entry features Lemon Sourdough Fish Goujons in a seeded bun with minted mushy peas and tartare sauce, while Japan’s offering builds Katsu Prawns into a bowl with curry sauce, sticky rice and wakame seaweed salad. Colombia brings Popcorn Shrimp with aji picante sauce and crispy shallots, and Brazil’s sharing platter combines three products on a single board with charred pineapple salsa and lime crema.

What makes the approach particularly relevant for the frozen food sector is the emphasis on product versatility. Each hero item works within its themed World Cup dish but performs equally well as an everyday menu staple. Panko Coated Squid Rings, for example, appear in the Mexico-themed build with a smoky chipotle chocolate mole dip, but they’re just as at home served as a straightforward calamari basket on any other day of the week. This means operators can participate in the World Cup buzz without increasing their SKU count or introducing products that gather dust once the final whistle blows.

The full menu also includes sharing platters designed for groups watching matches together, recognising that communal dining occasions spike significantly during major tournaments. These multi-product boards allow operators to drive higher spend per table while still relying on the same core frozen range.

Every dish on the menu has been developed with speed of service front of mind. All hero products go directly from freezer to fryer, requiring no thawing or advance preparation, which is critical during the unpredictable surges that accompany live sport. Half-time rushes in particular demand a kitchen that can deliver volume without compromising quality, and frozen seafood is well positioned to meet that need.

Pacific West has produced a flipbook style menu guide for operators, complete with build instructions and chef’s tips for each dish. The company sees initiatives like this as an example of how frozen food brands can support their customers beyond simply supplying product, helping them build menus that drive footfall, increase average spend and make the most of seasonal opportunities.

The tournament runs from June through July, giving operators a lengthy window to capitalise. And with frozen at the heart of every dish, there’s no waste, no prep burden and no reason not to get involved.
