OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL NAMED UKWA SUSTAINABILITY FINALIST

Oakland International has been named a finalist in the Excellence in Sustainability category of the UKWA Awards for Excellence 2026, underlining its position as a forward‑thinking supply chain specialist driving practical and scalable sustainability across warehousing and logistics.

The recognition comes as the UKWA Awards mark their 25th anniversary, with competition this year described by judges as exceptionally strong. Securing a place on the shortlist reflects the depth of Oakland International’s sustainability strategy and its long‑term commitment to responsible growth across the food and logistics sector.

Commenting on the shortlisting, Oakland International Sustainability Officer Elinor Smith said: “Sustainability is not a bolt‑on at Oakland, it informs how we operate, invest and plan for the future.

“From cutting food waste and improving energy efficiency to supporting our people and the communities we serve, our focus is on building a resilient supply chain business that delivers long‑term value for customers and wider society. To be recognised by UKWA in such a milestone year for the industry is a testament to the commitment and innovation of our teams.”

A Certified B Corporation, Oakland International embeds environmental responsibility, ethical governance and social value across every level of the business. The company is widely recognised for its market‑leading distress load management service, helping retailers and brands significantly reduce food waste, alongside its multi‑temperature supply chain operation delivering integrated storage, distribution, contract packing, consolidation and direct‑to‑consumer solutions across the UK and Ireland.

Looking ahead, Oakland International continues to invest in innovation and low‑carbon growth across the food supply chain, supporting sustainable agriculture, vertical farming and alternative food production models designed to enhance food security while reducing environmental impact. This future‑focused approach is matched by continued investment in people, skills and technology to support operational excellence and create clear progression pathways within the logistics sector.

Concluding, Elinor added: “Our ambition is to help shape a supply chain that is not only commercially robust, but genuinely sustainable and future‑ready. This shortlisting reflects the role we believe logistics must play in addressing the environmental and social challenges facing the food industry.”

Winners will be announced at a celebratory lunch on the 15th July at the Royal Lancaster in London.
