Food Matters Live unveils high profile education programme

Food Matters Live unveils high profile education programme

Tackling obesity, malnutrition, sustainable food business, packaging and personalised nutrition will be among the hot topics discussed by more than 400 experts in this year’s education programme at Food Matters Live.

Eden Project founder Sir Tim Smit, Iceland’s Nick Canning, Food and Drink Federation’s Ian Wright, Leon Restaurant’s Henry Dimbleby and broadcaster Professor Claudia Hammond head a stellar line-up of speakers taking part in the conference programme at Food Matters Live.

They join government ministers, business leaders, scientists, healthcare professionals, psychologists, sensory experts, commentators and chefs in a series of debates addressing the critical relationship between food, health and nutrition at this unique cross-sector event.

And to keep the highest standards of debate and analysis, the Food Matters Live Conference will be chaired by eminent BBC presenters Jonathan Dimbleby, Anita Anand and Justin Webb.

The conference is just one of the key highlights of the three-day, free-to-attend Food Matters Live event, which takes place at London’s ExCeL centre on November 17-19.

A multi-stream seminar programme also offers visitors an unparalleled opportunity to gain practical advice from more than 300 expert speakers.

Based on case studies and real-life experience, sessions will cover a broad range of issues such as the nutritional needs of an ageing population, the growth in free-from foods, maternal and infant nutrition, sports nutrition, personalised nutrition, and the impact of packaging design and marketing on consumer food choices.

Speakers taking part in the seminars come from a range of diverse backgrounds – from R&D, academia, nutrition and health through to packaging, branding, psychology and neuroscience.

The Food Matters Live education programme has also achieved CPD accreditation from the British Dietetic Association and the Association for Nutrition.

Briony Mansell-Lewis, Food Matters Live Director, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting such a broad range of distinguished speakers for 2015. Their breadth of expertise will provide visitors with invaluable insight and create a platform where solutions to complex issues surrounding food, health and nutrition can be explored and evaluated.”

Ian Wright, Food and Drink Federation Director General, said: “We are pleased to support Food Matters Live alongside other partners from across the food supply chain, health, academia and government. The importance of taking a multi-stakeholder approach to improved nutrition and public health is reflected in the varied line-up of expert speakers and broad range of topics covered – we look forward to contributing to a constructive and impactful event.”

Dr Fiona McCullough, British Dietetic Association Honorary Chairman commented: “The British Dietetic Association is proud to be associated with Food Matters Lives as a Lead Supporter. As a dietitian and an educator, I am particularly pleased that the event is also supporting the education aspect around food and nutrition. I am looking forward to exploring all the education platforms with my fellow dietitians and other professionals.”

Entry is free to Food Matters Live and visitors can register at www.foodmatterslive.com and plan their visit using the online itinerary planner.
