On attending industry forums relating to COVID 19 we recently heard that despite the national statistics for those receiving vaccine being 88% of the adult population receiving the 1st dose and 70% having received the second, one company looked very different with only 41% receiving the 1st dose and 16% receiving the second.
Earlier in the year some of the UK’s biggest national employers pledged their support in promoting positive vaccination messages and encouraging their 240,000 employees to get the vaccine – including during working hours – to ensure workplaces are safe and staff can play their part in the UK’s biggest ever vaccination programme.
IKEA, Asda, Slimming World, Metro Bank, Procter & Gamble UK, Santander, Nationwide, Severn Trent and Merlin Entertainments were among the many businesses that maintained extensive safety measures to protect staff throughout the pandemic. To help encourage and maintain high vaccine uptake among their employees, they pledged to promote positive safety messages and signpost staff to NHS-verified advice on vaccines.
With an aim of getting more workers in our industry vaccinated we would urge our members to adopt the same in encouraging vaccinations; one company used a video to promote the vaccination programme which removed some of the myths and stigma surrounding it.
