NEW COLDSTORE STRENGTHENS EUROFRIGO’S POSITION AS SUPPLY CHAIN PARTNER

Logistics service provider Eurofrigo has started the construction of a new coldstore on the Maasvlakte, with an expected completion in mid-2021. The new building serves as an expansion and innovation of the company’s own checkpoints, with which it can offer the right solution quickly and flexibly. In addition, the coldstore increases Eurofrigo’s storage capacity.

The new coldstore is Eurofrigo’s sixth location in the Netherlands. It is located opposite the Eurofrigo Maasvlakte facility on Karimatastraat. With the 6 locations, the company offers the customer a wide choice to store its products in the most effective way in the Netherlands. Eurofrigo focuses on veterinary products from all over the world.

Expertise and adaptability
“We have chosen to expand our capacity in terms of checkpoints and storage, because we want to work more customer-oriented and offer more flexibility in inspections,” says Jeroen Tempels, CEO Eurofrigo. “In recent years we have seen that customer demand is increasingly focused on VAS solutions. Because of its expertise and adaptability Eurofrigo adopts a dynamic attitude to assist customers in VAS solutions and to offer itself as a strong supply chain partner for the longer term.”

With the new location Eurofrigo is fully committed to value-added services. The new coldstore will be ultra-modern, with cells consisting of different, individually adjustable temperature zones. “In addition to VAS, inspection and storage, together with sister company Thermotraffic, we offer a complete and independent logistics solution, from services such as customs clearance, transport and export on the one hand, to inspection, container unloading and loading, storage, order picking, repacking, weighing and quality control on the other”, says Tempels.

Checkpoint important advantage
In addition to increasing capacity and flexibility, Eurofrigo is setting up a checkpoint at the new location, which will meet the most modern requirements to guarantee a faster and more effective flow. With a view to Brexit, a faster flow at the veterinary checkpoint is definitely a good starting point. Tempels: “The checkpoint is one of the most important advantages of the new location. We have been the market leader in the number of checkpoints for 27 years and we have been working closely with the NVWA for years.”

TEAM MEMBERS RAISE A WHOPPING £13,600 FOR UK CHARITIES IN JUST SIX MONTHS, THANKS TO THEIR TIRELESS COMMITMENT TO GOOD CAUSES

The Ice Co created a charity challenge called ‘Ice Around The World’, which saw employees walking, cycling and running 25,000 miles in just 153 days, while abiding by lockdown rules throughout. For every mile covered, The Ice Co donated 50p to charity. They also sold their branded charity tops and raffled off a Rhinos Rugby League signed 2020 shirt.

Overall, The Ice Co were able to help 26 charities, many of them Yorkshire-based. Beneficiaries included Yorkshire Children’s Trust, Martin House Hospice, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Oliver’s Journey for Neuroblastoma, to name just a few.

A total of £1,800 was donated to Oliver’s Journey for Neuroblastoma. Oliver’s family are raising money so he can access the Bivalent Vaccine trial in New York by March this year. Oliver’s mother, Laura, said:

“We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to the challenge. The funds you have raised will go towards the cost of the Bivalent vaccine trial in New York which will give Oliver the chance to live a long, healthy and normal life.”

Staff from The Ice Co had great fun getting their miles in, and had some motivation to get out and moving during lockdown.

Polly Metcalfe, Managing Director at The Ice Co, said:

“We are incredibly proud to support the work of some fantastic charities who do so much for our community – particularly at a time when they’ve lost much-needed funds. By raising over £13,000 for good causes, we were able to help 26 charities, who all do excellent work.

“I’d like to thank everyone at The Ice Co for their determination and team spirit – both during Ice Around the World and at work – you’ve all done such a great job and should be incredibly proud!”

Ginny, The Ice Co’s Head of Marketing said:

“In 2020 it made sense to do something bigger and better, that not only raised money for charity but brought us together as a team and helped with employee wellbeing at the same time, by encouraging us to get out into the great outdoors and do some exercise.

“Not only did people walk in their local area, but we also saw people biking over 100 miles, doing their first runs, and getting the kids involved. It really has been an event to remember and to be able to support so many charities in such a difficult time has made it even more worthwhile.”
